International Mobility: Ukraine-Austria🇺🇦🇦🇹
From May 18 to 26, 2026, Associate Professor Tetіana Savchyn, a representative of the Ivan Pulyuy Ternopil National Technical University, was at the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria 🇦🇹🇺🇦 as part of the international mobility program.
During the week, we held a number of scientific seminars aimed at developing competencies in preparing grant applications, implementing artificial intelligence tools in the professional activities of a teacher, and discussing modern problems of business communications.
The event became an important platform for academic exchange and cooperation.
In addition, we took part in the embroidery march in Vienna. We are also establishing cooperation with the Carnuntum Archaelogical Park – a museum where a city from the times of the Roman Empire, the most important Roman archaeological complex in Central Europe, has been preserved and partially reconstructed.
We sincerely thank our Austrian colleagues Dr. Gerhard Walter Ruscher and Master Hermann Dietrich for their meaningful communication and support for Ukrainian scientists in Austria, which contributes to the development of international scientific ties and partnerships in the future.





ICON MastEd 2026: International Research Team Presentation
On May 14, our team participated in the 18th International Conference on Natural and Technological Education (ICON MaSTEd 2026) in Kryvyi Rih. The team included Professors Svitlana Skvortsova, Tetiana Symonenko , Kira Hnizdilova, and Yana Haievets, representing the Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria, Cherkasy National University named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, and South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky.
We presented the study “Artificial Intelligence Tools in the Visualization of Educational Materials: Teachers’ Experience and Perspectives”. The research focused on how teachers use AI tools to create visual learning materials and their future perspectives on these technologies.

Dr. Serhii Semerakov.

International Academic Mobility at the University of Silesia: Digital Innovation in Education
Professors of the Center, Svitlana Skvortsova and Tetiana Symonenko, completed an international academic internship at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland within the framework of academic mobility and the CIPUS programme.
For us as Ukrainian scholars, this internship opened new opportunities for cooperation and sustainable international partnerships. The working group included Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Svitlana Skvortsova, Professor Tetiana Symonenko, Corresponding Member NAES of Ukraine Professor Nataliia Morze, and Habilitated Professor Eugenia Smyrnova-Trybulska (University of Silesia).
We participated in the scientific seminar “Digital Technologies for Innovative Teaching of Teachers and Students”, organized by the Polish Pedagogical Association at the Faculty of Primary Education and Arts.
We demonstrated an AI-based presentation workflow using Lenta laptop tools and Synthesia. Dr. Tomasz Kopczyński also presented VR, AR, and Oculus applications in mathematics education.




Start of the New Project “Ukrainian Roots Challenge”
On April 15, we officially launched the international project Ukrainian Roots Challenge, developed by the well-known Canadian professor Oleksandr Kondrashov. The project is implemented in partnership with Thompson Rivers University, the Center of Ukrainian Studies in Austria, and the All-Ukrainian Association of Language Teachers.
The first meeting already brought together around 100 participants from Canada, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, the USA, Austria, Poland, Italy, and other countries. It is especially valuable that professors, teachers, students, and school pupils work together as one international team. We are convinced that such cooperation generates strong ideas and meaningful initiatives.
Certificates of participation were issued to all seminar participants.
We invite everyone to join our growing community. Soon we will present new project activities, including conferences, competitions, and seminars.


International Academic Internship in Komárno, Slovakia
Professors of the Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria, Svitlana Skvortsova and Tetiana Semonenko, completed an international academic internship at Jan Selye University in Komárno, Slovakia in April 2026.
During the visit, they established meaningful cooperation with colleagues from the Faculty of Economics and Informatics, which developed into a serious academic partnership with strong future potential.
The internship was carried out within the Ukrainian–Austrian project “The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in the Professional Activities of University Lecturers”, implemented by the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky in cooperation with the Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria. This topic became the core of all academic discussions and exchanges.
We express sincere gratitude to Professor Stefan Gubo for his support, coordination, and open academic dialogue, which made the visit productive and well organized.


Ukrainian Roots Challenge
On the Organization of an International Seminar
The Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria hereby announces the organization of the international academic and educational seminar “Ukrainian Roots Challenge”, to be held on April 15, 2026, at 16:00 (Kyiv time).
The seminar is conducted in cooperation with academic partners from Canada and with the involvement of Ukrainian educators. The purpose of the event is to promote innovative approaches in education, strengthen international academic collaboration, and support the development of cultural and educational initiatives related to Ukrainian identity.
Participation in the seminar contributes to professional development and international exchange of experience among educators.
This order shall come into force upon publication.

2026: The second stage of the International project
The second stage of the project aimed at integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the professional activities of educators has officially begun. At this stage, particular attention is devoted to the development and implementation of virtual laboratories as a tool for enhancing the quality of the educational process and expanding opportunities for practical training. The project team is working on improving methodological approaches, creating digital solutions, and strengthening modern professional competencies among teaching staff. This initiative supports the development of an innovative educational environment and assists educators in effectively integrating advanced digital technologies into their instructional practices.

Institutional cooperation: Ministry and the Center
February 18 marked an important milestone for the Center for Ukrainian Researchers, as members of the Center’s management met with the Federal Minister for Women, Science and Research of Austria — Eva-Maria Holzleitner, who heads the Bundesministerium für Frauen, Wissenschaft und Forschung.
During the constructive discussion, a number of key agreements were reached aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and fostering closer collaboration between the Ministry and the Center. The parties discussed prospects for joint research initiatives, support for Ukrainian scholars in Austria, and the expansion of international project activities.
We are confident that this meeting will serve as an important step and a solid foundation for the further development of partnership and the enhancement of international academic cooperation.

The team of the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria 🇦🇹🇺🇦 is actively developing its activities,
and it is a great honor for us to start cooperation with the Future Learning Experience Center (FLEX) WU Universität — a center for innovation and artificial intelligence. During our visit, we got acquainted with the use of virtual reality technologies, artificial intelligence and modern tools in the educational process of teachers and students. This is an extremely important event for Ukrainian scientists.
We presented our topics, shared our experience testing artificial intelligence tools, Ukrainian teachers are gradually implementing these technologies and see their benefits in teaching. We have interesting proposals for further cooperation and involving Ukrainian students and scientists from partner institutions in research.

Another article in Scopus! This is yet another step in implementing our Austria–Ukraine project 🇦🇹🇺🇦aimed at strengthening cooperation between researchers of both countries. The study “Using AI technologies to optimize the scientific activities of university teachers” explores how artificial intelligence tools can enhance the efficiency of academic work. International conference:Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Distance Learning
15.10.25. – 17.10.25. an extraordinary event took place in the global scientific world: the International Conference, which is one of the most influential .
This is the 17 Annual International Scientific Conference. The conference brought together: Piet Kommers, Snjezana Babic, Eugenia Smyrnova-Trybulska, Volodymyr Proshkin, Natalia Morze and Olga Barna, Filipe Carrera and others.
This event testifies not only to the large-scale presence of Ukrainian scientists in the global dimension, but also to their deep theoretical and practical training.
The topic of our research: The use of AI-Based chatbots in the professional activities of secondary school teachers in Ukraine: results of an empirical study”. Participation in the conference is implemented within the framework of the international project Austria-Ukraine.








Presentation of the monograph: Austria-Ukraine project
At the extended meeting of the Council of the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria, a presentation of a monograph by professors Svitlana Skvortsova and Tetyana Symonenko was held, dedicated to understanding the role of artificial intelligence in education, science, and the development of human thinking.
The event was held in a mixed format and began with a video presentation created using the Synthesia platform, which in itself became an example of the practical use of AI technologies. Then the authors personally presented the content and concept of the monograph, outlining the main ideas regarding the transformation of the educational space under the influence of intelligent systems.
After the speeches, a lively discussion and exchange of experience in interacting with AI between Ukrainian and Austrian scientists took place. The event showed that artificial intelligence not only changes learning tools, but also forms a new culture of cognition, in the center of which remains a person.





MSCA Ukraine
It is a great honor for us to be individually invited to the MSCA Ukraine seminar, organized by the European University Association (EUA).
We appreciate this opportunity, as it opens up space for new scientific contacts, partnerships and joint initiatives between Ukrainian and European researchers.
Participation in this event is not only a sign of trust and recognition of our work, but also an important step towards strengthening the presence of Ukrainian science in the European research environment.

On October 13, the Vienna University of Economics (WU Universität Wien) will host a presentation of the monograph and interim results of the international scientific project “Austria – Ukraine”.
The event will be held offline.
For the first time in Ukraine and Austria, global-level experimental research combining innovative methods, artificial intelligence and modern educational approaches will be presented.

Council of the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria
Today, the Council of the Center of Ukrainian Researchers and Scientists took place, uniting scientists from different parts of Ukraine — Sumy and Cherkasy, Kyiv and Kharkiv, Mariupol, Odessa, Kherson and Lutsk. We met to feel the true power of unity: science knows no borders, because the desire to know and create the future unites us more strongly than distances. Ukrainian scientists who are currently working in Europe have also joined our community. Together we are building a space of trust, mutual respect and inspiration, where every idea can become the basis of an international project. We are convinced that despite all the challenges, Ukrainian science is able to speak with a powerful voice in the world. Ahead are joint initiatives, new horizons and the belief that our efforts are changing the future.

Ukraine-Austria: scientific project
In 2024, the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria signed a cooperation agreement with the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky.
As a result of this cooperation, we achieved an important scientific victory.
Ukraine and Austria approved a list of joint research projects for 2025–2026, including our project: “The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in the Professional Activities of a University Teacher.”

Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and ZUFO: international dialogues
The Council of Young Scientists of Ukraine initiated an international dialogue with representatives of the scientific community of the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria. Speaker Professor Tetyana Symonenko spoke about the vectors of the Center’s activity. The event was attended by scientists from Austria, Ukraine, in particular from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Sumy. These are all partner organizations. In particular, In 2023, Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko and the Center for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria concluded an agreement on cooperation in the field of scientific, scientific and pedagogical activities, higher philological education. During 2023-2025, guest lectures, summer schools for applicants were held, and joint educational, scientific and social projects were implemented.

Today in Vienna, an educational dialogue took place between scientists from Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Austria 🇦🇹 and students from WU Universität and Vienna University. From the Ukrainian educational space, scientists from various universities in Ukraine (Ternopil, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Zaporizhia) joined. The organizer of the event: ZUFO (Center for Ukrainian Studies); representatives of the public organization “Nova Dumka” also participated.

On February 20, 2025, a meeting of the active Ukrainian community took place at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Austria with the Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk. A range of important topics were discussed, including women’s leadership in combating disinformation, as well as strengthening the influence of Ukraine’s soft power (culture, education) internationally. The Director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies in Austria, Professor Tetiana Symonenko, participated in the event. This was a significant occasion for the Ukrainian community in Austria and for the team of the Center for Ukrainian Studies in Austria, fostering valuable dialogue and furthering international collaboration

On January 9th, researchers from the Center of Ukrainian Scientists in Austria had the unique opportunity to meet with a professor from the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), who secured a remarkable €2.5 million ERC grant.
This meeting served as a source of motivation and valuable insights for all participants.
The professor shared his journey to this success, providing a detailed account of the key stages in submitting a grant proposal: from shaping the idea to structuring the documents and communicating with the grant providers.

Ukrainian Science Conquers the World!
Our researchers are among the top 16 at a prestigious AI conference in Italy. On November 25-26, 2024, the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence was held at the University of Bolzano. We presented research on the use of artificial intelligence in the work of educators at Ukrainian universities (presented by Tetiana Brytskan).
A scientific team of researchers from Ukrainian universities and the International Association of the Center for Ukrainian Studies in Austria, including Professors Svitlana Skvortsova, Tetiana Brytskan, Tetiana Symonenko, Ruslana Romanyshyn, and Oksana Onopriienko, presented a study that was selected for inclusion in the Scopus collection. Out of 168 publications, only 16 were chosen as the best, and among them was the Ukrainian research.
Ukraine is also shaping the future of global education.

The signatory of the agreement from Ternopil National Technical University was the rector Mykola Mytnyk, while the interests of the educational association “Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria” will be represented by the co-directors, Tetyana Symonenko and Natalia Andriusiak.
Responsible persons have been appointed to organize the implementation of the agreement’s terms. The collaboration from the University side will be coordinated by Tetyana Savchyn, Associate Professor at the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages, while from the Association side, the cooperation will be coordinated by Professor Tetyana Symonenko.

The Center for Ukrainian Studies in Austria and the K.D. Ushynsky South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at fostering academic and educational initiatives. This agreement opens new opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and the organization of conferences and seminars. The primary areas of collaboration will focus on education, culture, and the history of Ukraine and its diaspora. The agreement also provides support for young researchers, postgraduate students, and scholars from both institutions by offering grants and scholarships for study and research internships. The signing of this agreement will strengthen cultural and academic ties between Ukraine and Austria, while enhancing the international reputation of both institutions.

Yesterday, in an atmosphere of deep respect and gratitude for outstanding contributions to the Ukrainian people, the solemn award ceremony of the Order of Saint Pantaleon took place. During the event, the work of the team at the CENTER for Ukrainian Researchers in Austria was highly recognized for their significant contribution to Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and independence.
Our team was honored with an award for the successful projects “In Austria with Ukraine in My Heart” and “Heart in Pixels.” These initiatives not only strengthen Ukrainian-Austrian relations but also help preserve national identity. This recognition is a great honor for our team and inspires us to continue our important work for the benefit of Ukraine.

A workshop for the Ukrainian scientific community was held in Vienna
On 10.09.24, the first stage of the new project of the Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria took place, which we implement jointly and with the support of various Austrian institutions: Akademiker_innen Zentrum: Wien, die Initiative Nachbarinnen, ABZ”Frauen Berufszentrum Wien, AMS, Check in plus. The main vector of the project is the support of the Ukrainian academic community in Austria, promotion of integration and networking with business. We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the event, special thanks to Mag. Manuela Hargassner-Delpos. The next meeting in the extended circle will take place at the end of October 2024.

oday, the second meeting of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Austria, Vasyl Khymynets, and diplomats of the Embassy with representatives of Ukrainian public organizations and the clergy of Vienna took place.
Important issues of the creation of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Austria were discussed. The delegate from the Center of Ukrainian Researchers was the director of the Center, co-founder, professor Tetiana Symonenko. The Center of Ukrainian Researchers supports the initiative to create an association, our team believes that the strength of Ukrainians lies in unity


The Center of Ukrainian Researchers became a partner of the tournament on financial literacy of Ukrainian schoolchildren.
The first international tournament on financial literacy for Ukrainian children aged 13-17 continues these days in Vienna. The Tournament is supported by the Individual Deposit Guarantee Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within their competences. The community of our Center responded with pleasure to the offer to join an interesting and necessary initiative. The purpose of the Tournament is to consolidate the efforts of state and public organizations of Ukraine. Teams of Ukrainian teenagers from Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Greece, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Portugal and Ukraine take part in the Tournament.

Warum solltet ihr mitmachen? Weil es wichtig ist, der Welt das Bild der modernen Österreicherinnen und Österreicher zu zeigen, die zu Beginn des Krieges ukrainische Frauen und Kinder aufnahmen, damals helfend zur Seite standen und auch jetzt weiterhin helfen.
Unsere Idee ist es, der Welt zu erzählen, warum die Österreicherinnen und Österreicher so schnell geholfen haben, was sie motivierte und welche Art von Hilfe sie leisteten.
Von euch erwarten wir eine Geschichte. Schreibt, warum ihr euch entschieden habt, den Ukrainern zu helfen. Was wusstet ihr über die Ukraine vor dem Krieg und was wisst ihr in diesem Moment? Wie seht ihr das Gesicht einer ukrainischen Frau nach Kriegsbeginn und welche Hilfe habt ihr geleistet?
Jede Österreicherin und jeder Österreicher kann so offen sein, wie sie oder er möchte. Ihr könnt persönliche Daten angeben oder anonym bleiben.
Die Geschichte muss auf Deutsch und aus dem Herzen kommen. Liebe Österreicherinnen und Österreicher, wir möchten eure Namen in der Geschichte und im Gedächtnis verewigen.
Ein Buch ist das beste Gedächtnisarchiv, daher wird auf Grundlage der Ergebnisse des Projekts ein Buch veröffentlicht, das wir der ganzen Welt präsentieren.

The best methodologists in the field of mathematics share their experience. The professor of the Center of Ukrainian researchers in Austria Svetlana Skvortsova conducted a series of methodical seminars and workshops. Teachers and students took part in the seminar. Important problems of the methodology of teaching mathematics and the use of digital tools during the study of mathematics were discussed.



New program: “Ukrainian as a foreign language “.
The Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria launched a new course “Ukrainian as a Foreign Language”. A training program, concept and principles have been developed. Head of the program – doctor, professor, director of the Center – Tetyana Symonenko. We have a lot of requests from Austrians who want to learn the Ukrainian language. We invite teams, firms, corporations, as well as Austrian citizens who want to learn the Ukrainian language to cooperate.

On February 20, at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Austria, the Zentrum Ukrainischer Forscher:innen/Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria community presented the scientific and journalistic publication Schatten der Freiheit: Erzählungen ukrainischer Frauen die in Österreich landenten. The publication is the final publication within the project, presented in three languages: Ukrainian, English, German.
The event was attended by project managers, professors Tetyana Symonenko and Nataliya Andrusiak, the Center’s Austrian partners Alois Voldan, Herald Jung, Michael Novotny, Walter Hayek, Gerhard Ruscher, and project participants Oksana Beketova, Yasmina Korohod, Nataliya Plahotniuk, and Taisia Novachuk.
The project is dedicated to Ukrainian women and children who were forced to leave Ukraine due to military operations and found temporary protection in Austria.
The first educational program of Ukrainian scientists in Austria




At the end of 2023 and in the first half of 2024, the educational program for scientists from Ukraine continued. Our Center was a partner in this work. During their studies, Ukrainian educators took part in various events in educational institutions in Vienna. The main directions of the program: modern educational technologies, digitalization of education, dual education, etc.
Professors and directors of the Center Nataliya Andrusyak and Tetyana Symonenko, as well as associate professors Natalya Molodcha, Oksana Denys, Natalya Ovsyannikova, Olga Fast, Tetyana Kovaleva, Oleg Rybak and other colleagues took part in the Program.
We sincerely thank our colleagues from the European Center for Freedom and Independence Olena Bekreniova and Olga Olefir for their cooperation and hope for further work.
Heart in Pixel
The Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria presented the publication “Heart in Pixels”.
This is a collection of Ukrainian women’s poetry, which presents the literary work of the unsurpassed masters of the Ukrainian word: Lesia Dmyterko, Bohdana Kazanzhi, Yevgenia Yurchenko, Svitlana Kmyta, Alyona Nikitina.
We sincerely thank the famous Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Zhaivoron for the foreword to the book.
We would also like to thank the professors of the business communication department of WU Universität, Ukrainian students in Austria, and the Plast youth organization for the incredible atmosphere during the presentation of the “Heart in Pixel” publication




Austrian-Ukrainian Society and Center of Ukrainian researchers in Austria
The directors of our Center took part in the meeting of the Austrian-Ukrainian Society dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the International Organization. We sincerely thank Professor Alois Voldan for the invitation and cooperation.

International conference on artificial intelligence and digital competence
Researchers of the Center, professors Svitlana Skvortsova, Tetyana Symonenko, Tetyana Brytkan took part in the prestigious international conference indexed by Web of science. The Educational Association “Center of Ukrainian Researchers in Austria” (Zentrum Ukrainischer Forscher:innen) and Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of scientific, scientific and pedagogical activities, higher philological education.
The educational association “Center of Ukrainian researchers in Austria” is represented by the co-directors of the organization, professors Tetyana SIMONENKO, Nataliya ANDRUSYAK, SumDPU named after A.S. Makarenko – the rector, professor Yury LYANNOI, from the department of Ukrainian language and literature – professor Olena SEMENOG.
The subject of cooperation is the implementation of joint international, educational and scientific programs and projects, the exchange of experience in the process of updating and improving educational programs for the training of philologist specialists; holding joint scientific and scientific-practical conferences, symposia, webinars, master classes, educational hubs on the implementation of innovative educational technologies in philological education; preparation of scientific articles, collective monographs; reviewing scientific, scientific and methodological materials. It is proposed to involve teachers in reading interactive lectures, joint development of methodological and informational support of the educational process.
